Temporary Aid to Needy Families (TANF) is the current federal program for various adult educational programs. It has replaced the Greater Avenues to Independence (GAIN). TANF gives the necessary training and develops people for employment. If you cannot find TANF specifically in your state, the state probably has a similar program with a different name. For example, it is called as CalWorks in California, and by some other names in other states. Adult Education programs can be found in the website listing of your state’s social services agencies.
